ITEM: Slouch Hat
ORIGIN: Australia
PERIOD: 1915
World War One slouch hat attributed to one Sergeant Fraser, Imperial Camel Corps (ICC)
and dated 1915.
Maker John Bardsley & Son size 6¾.
The hat’s exterior features a relatively high crown (typical of WW1 era slouch hats), a woolen pugaree and rising sun badge with a Fraser hunting tartan patch behind.
The sweatband and interior are well worn and soiled suggesting extensive field use.
The presence of ‘Kangaroo Feathers’ (emu feathers) suggests previous service in (possibly 6th) Australian Light Horse Brigade.
